Single Page Applications

Implementing Modern Web Business Applications with Single-Page Application Technologies.

Single-Page Applications (SPAs) are fluid, highly-responsive, native-like applications that run in a regular web browser, using HTML 5, CSS 3 and JavaScript. Whereas a traditional server-side web application makes constant page reloads, an SPA loads a single HTML page and dynamically updates the page as the user interacts with the application.

SPA technologies are highly favoured by IT architecture strategists and offer many advantages to business applications by providing a rich user experience, but the change in technology presents new challenges to the development team.

The talk will give an overview of the architecture of an SPA and a comparison of the components, frameworks and tools that can ease the development and testing SPAs. There will be a focus on AngularJS with comparisons to other frameworks such as KnockoutJS and Ember.js. The talk will also present the benefits of SPA technologies to those who are moving towards the exciting new world of mobile business applications, and will offer insights and best-practices based on first-hand experience.
